Welcome, Come on in!

Langdale United Methodist Church is all about “making Jesus real.”  We understand we live in a world where people are looking for those things in life that are genuine, particularly when it is associated with their faith journey.  We all want to believe that God is a real and personal God who loves us and cares for us.  At Langdale, we offer experiences of worship, study, and fellowship for all ages that will help you to know God is passionately in love with you.  Our Mission Statement identifies the purpose for our ministry – “To know God and to make God known throughout the world with Christ-like care, love, and maturity.”  If you are looking for a church family to join, we hope you will consider Langdale.  We are a congregation of care and unity as we grow disciples for Jesus Christ.  We will challenge you in your walk as a disciple.

We invite you to explore our website to discover who we are and how we can help you grow in Christ. See the many ministries we currently have and hopefully you will find one that interests you. You can meet our staff, see our calendar of events, find out about our worship services and times, and just get to know us. And when you visit us, we simply invite you to "make yourself at home". If you have any questions, please call us at 334-756-2221 or email any staff person. We are ready to join you in "making Jesus real" in our community and world.

THIS WEEK IN WORSHIP

July 25, 2010

Luke 11:1-13

“Thy Kingdom Come:  Really?”

What if there really was a church where people were friendly?  What if there was a church where people worshiped out of a true sense of God’s Spirit and love?  What if there really was a church where God was present to make known the love of His son Jesus Christ?  What if there was a church that could offer people an opportunity every week to accept Jesus Christ as their personal Lord and Savior?  Are you looking for this kind of church?

There are many churches in our Valley area and we at Langdale United Methodist Church pray for them and their pastors every week.  We especially want to extend an invitation to come visit us and experience a powerful presence of God that we believe can be life changing.

This week in worship, our preacher, James Haskins will be preaching from Luke 11:1-13, the passage of Scripture where Jesus is asked by the disciples to teach them how to pray.  He shares with them what we have come to know as The Lord’s Prayer.  Many of us pray that prayer every day.  However, do we truly know for what we are praying and would we truly expect that prayer to come true?  James will help us understand this ageless prayer and then challenge us to ask if we really want it to come true.  The title to his sermon is “Thy Kingdom Come:  Really?”

Our Journey Service is a contemporary style of worship beginning at 8:45am EST in our Family Life Center.  Our praise band, “Joyful Noise” leads us in dynamic contemporary Christian music.  Special uses of technology include video clips and other computer generated scenes that help to bring the Scriptures to life.  Refreshments are available.  The dress is casual and the atmosphere is awesome.  Our Traditional worship service begins at 10:55am EST in the Sanctuary.  This service is a powerful expression of worship using the ritual, creeds, and great hymns of the church to tell the story of Jesus’ love.  Sunday School for all ages begins at 9:55am.  A nursery staffed with experienced loving child caretakers is available for all our services.  Come, be part of a church that seeks to “make Jesus real.”
