Langdale United Methodist
Church is all about “making Jesus
real.” We understand we live in a world
where people are looking for those
things in life that are genuine,
particularly when it is associated with
their faith journey. We all want to
believe that God is a real and personal
God who loves us and cares for us. At
Langdale, we offer experiences of
worship, study, and fellowship for all
ages that will help you to know God is
passionately in love with you. Our
Mission Statement identifies the purpose
for our ministry – “To know God and to
make God known throughout the world with
Christ-like care, love, and maturity.”
If you are looking for a church family
to join, we hope you will consider
Langdale. We are a congregation of care
and unity as we grow disciples for Jesus
Christ. We will challenge you in your
walk as a disciple.
We invite you to explore
our website to discover who we are and

“Radical Love”
Mark 12:28-34
We are moving into the fourth week of our Lenten journey, ever closer to Holy Week and the final days of Jesus’ life. We are also in the final weeks of our “radical renovation,” the work we are inviting God to perform in our lives so our lives are more an image of Christ. For some, it is a rather painless process. For others, it may be very agonizing to allow Jesus to sweep our lives of the trash that has accumulated in our spirits.
This week, our preacher, James Haskins will be preaching from Mark 12:28-34, the story of the scribe who came to Jesus and asked, “Which commandment is the first of all?” Jesus answered him with not just one commandment being the first, but with a second. “Love the Lord your God with all your heart, soul, mind, and strength AND your neighbor as yourself.” The title for the sermon is “Radical Love.”
James Harnish, in our study book, Radical Renovation – Living the Cross-Shaped Life, wrote, “The radical renovation that God is at work to accomplish in our lives is not just a matter of words or talk; it is about truth and action. Love is the action by which God’s reconstruction of us is accomplished. Love defined by the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ is not so much something we feel as it is something we do.” James Haskins will help us see the difference as he shares his sermon.
Our Journey Service is a contemporary style of worship beginning at 8:45am EST in our Family Life Center. Our praise band, “Joyful Noise” leads us in dynamic contemporary Christian music. Special uses of technology include video clips and other computer generated scenes that help to bring the Scriptures to life. Refreshments are available. The dress is casual and the atmosphere is awesome. Our Traditional worship service begins at 10:55am EST in the Sanctuary. This service is a powerful expression of worship using the ritual, creeds, and great hymns of the church to tell the story of Jesus’ love. Sunday School for all ages begins at 9:55am. A nursery staffed with experienced loving child caretakers is available for all our services. Come, be part of a church that seeks to “make Jesus real.”
